Getting to SummerSalt:

From most places, the fastest and simplest way to get to SummerSalt is to fly into St. Thomas (STT) and take a ferry to the West End of Tortola.  Once you arrive at STT; hop in a Taxi Van for a short ride to the Ferry Terminal in Charlotte Amalie.  This should cost about $7 per person plus tip.  There will be many taxi vans at the airport waiting for passengers and it seems like the drivers have some sort of a loose system for who among them gets the next fare.

After you get to the ferry dock check which company has the next departure to Tortola.  The ferries run several times a day; starting at around 8am with the last one leaving around 4pm.  It costs roughly $50 per person for a round trip.  My family and I don't have a preference in terms of ferry companies, so we always just take the first available.  Click here for the ferry schedule and be sure you're looking at the Charolete Amalie, St. Thomas to West End, Tortola times :-).

If time allows while you wait for the next ferry, you can drop off your luggage with your ferry company and head up stairs for a quick bit and a tropical drink at The Petite Pump Room.

After arriving in Tortola's West End:

Nearly all of our guests rent a 4X4 SUV, which costs roughly $60/day and your rental car agent will meet you right at the West End ferry dock.  We have found that the best rental car services are those that are locally owned and operated; for example: Dede's Car Rental (284) 495-4041, Jerry's Car Rental (284) 495-4111, and D&D Car Rental (284) 495-4765.  These companies have a great record of having the cars ready and waiting for our guests when they arrive, and great customer service.  Also, there are a few options for vehicle types so if you'd like a full size 8+ passenger SUV or a convertible SUV be sure to inquire about availability.

Also waiting for you at the West End ferry terminal will be SummerSalt's housekeeper who'll escort you to the villa -- about a 10 minute drive.  She will give you the keys, help you get settled in, and be on her way with plenty of time to enjoy your first swim and first sunset at SummerSalt.

Getting Home

That's just a matter of retracing your route but the ferry times are different.  You simply leave the keys in a designated spot at the house, leave the rental car at the ferry terminal, so on and so forth.  Click here for the Ferry Schedule from West End, Tortola to St. Thomas.
